hardware.power_supply.state metric does not change when a power cable is removed

We have a CheckPoint 26000 appliance and we are trying to use Skyline to monitor some metrics with grafana.

Now we are trying to use the hardware.power_supply.state metric but it doesn't work as expected. To make a test we tried to disconnect one of the three power cables and from cpview (Hardware-Health.Power-Supply window) we see the "Power Supply #1" Down (see attached image).

However, if we run "cpview -m" and we extract the metric hardware.power_supply.state we have this output

{"data":[{"name":"Power Supply #3","value":1},{"name":"Power Supply #2","value":1},{"name":"Power Supply #1","value":1}],"description":"State of reading the power supply data","metric-id":"hardware.power_supply.state","metric-type":"Gauge","metric-unit":"{state}","metric-value-type":"double"}

where all the Power Supply #* fields have the value "1":

name":"Power Supply #1","value":1

name":"Power Supply #2","value":1

name":"Power Supply #3","value":1

With a power cable disconnected we expect a value "0" for the Power Supply #1.

What do you think? Is it correct, is there a bug?

Bye...

Hi @gianogli,

The current Skyline implementation is taking the state (status) field instead of the value, we have added the value field as well as part of the R82 upcoming release. The status AFAIK, indicates whether this is available for functionality - but not if it is active or not. Adding R&D related personal to comment further ( @yacovs )

Thanks for your clarification.
We are using R82EA on another 26000 but the behavior is the same.  Probably we are not using the take where these changes were implemented.

I think it could very useful read from this metric the field "Value" where we can find the UP o DOWN information.

We hope to see this feature in a next take/release. 😊

Thanks!!!!

Hi @gianogli ,

It should be a new metric called "hardware.power_supply" - where the value should be ( 0 - Down, Up - 1, Empty -2, Dummy , Ignore - 3) , I need to check if it was inserted in the EA-related takes, but It should be as part of the final GA release.
