Watch How an iPhone hack led to protests in Russia

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1g06JFXN94&feature=youtu.be

An anti-corruption documentary film posted on March 2017 sparked powerful protests across Russia. How is this connected to the hacking of an iPhone?  In 2014, Hackers hacked the iPhone of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. His personal data was stolen and posted online. By linking online shopping purchase receipts, which were included in the leaked data, the investigators were able to build up a picture of how Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev spends his money. The link is then made to the companies and individuals which control huge estates and the palaces which he is alleged to have been gifted by his rich friends. The film was released on March 2nd, and few weeks later middle classes of Russia took to the streets in anti-corruption protest. This is a really great example on how 1 leaking mobile device can create a lot of damage. Thanks Oded Yarkoni for the very informative thread!
