Hi
Which build of SmartConsole are you using (or R80.10 take)?
It is important to use the latest build (JHF) as it addresses installation issue such as support for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8

To clear things, the issue is in the installation of the SmartConsole or when working within the client, editing objects etc.?

Hi,
This issue occur when the installation is trying to registry mandatory dll files with RegSrv32 tool and fails. A side effect of this issue is errors when trying to edit objects (both on portable and not portable versions).
I've encountered this issue in the following scenarios:
- Installation is not running as Administrator
- Corrupted Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable package
Please make sure to run the installation as Administrator, and if that doesn't solve the issue - Please try to uninstall and install Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable x86 package again. Re-installation without uninstalling the package first might not work.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, please provide us the log files from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\CheckPoint\CPInstlog\install_fwgui_R80.10.elg
Feel free to contact me directly at kfiry@checkpoint.com
Best Regards,
Kfir

Just a wild guess - have you tried to check "unblock" on executable or ZIP file properties before installing/extracting?
