fw ctl engine
I was just wondering if anybody has used the fw ctl engine command at all. Apart from CLI ref guides, I've never seen it being used or referred to by any sks.
Many thanks in advance.

It's not a r80.20 or r80.30 gateway or management CLI command!

Never heard of that command, unless you are somehow referring to the INSPECT engine/driver which handles traffic in the PXL and F2F paths in R80.10 and earlier?

I did find a reference to in the R77 CLI Guide, but the help there looks completely different from what I see when I execute it on R80.20 and on SMB.

I have tested it under R80.20 and R80.30EA. The CLI command does not exist on gateway and management.

Something funny.
We can build us a new CLI command.
# echo cpstart > /usr/bin/fw_ctl_engine_on
# chmod 770 /usr/bin/fw_ctl_engine_on
# echo cpstop > /usr/bin/fw_ctl_engine_off
# chmod 777 /usr/bin/fw_ctl_engine_off
Now we can start/stop the Check Point firewall with "fw_ctl_engine_on" and "fw_ctl_engine_off"
