VSX Scheduled backup

Hi All,

I configured my Checkpoint VSX to back up to an external FTP server. When I checked 'show backup-scheduled xyz,' it displayed that the scheduled backup is performed to the FTP server. However, the backup file is not present on the FTP server. what will be the issue and a way to resolve?

Thanks

Hi @Ihenock1011

  • Can you ping the external FTP server?
  • What do the logs say?
    • VS0 can reach the external FTP?

This two thing what I would check first.

Yes, from a connectivity standpoint, it's okay. I can reach the external server using both ping and telnet from VS0.

  • Among the logs, is there any block?
  • Can you run a packet capture on the FTP server side?
  • the FTP user has right to the destination folder?

  • Among the logs, is there any block:- no blocks on the log
  • Can you run a packet capture on the FTP server side--- I will do now
  • the FTP user has right to the destination folder---yes with that user I already configured the SMS and working without an issue.

Hello,
Scheduling problems may be linked to the “admin” user password being expired.
You can use SK below as a reference:
https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk171454
When you run the test, follow up with the command below:

#watch -d -n 2 "ps -ef | grep -i backup"
and check the file:
/var/log/CPbackup/ backup_logs.elg
