SQLNET1 TCP packet out of state

Jump to solution

Hi Guys,

I just want to seek some help or recommendation if you have any issues on sqlnet1? We have this issue wherein the user is being disconnected for some period of time or having trouble connecting to the DB server which is Oracle. I also noticed that there are several dropped traffic which is I think the reply packet of the DB server to the user's IP. The message on the Smartview Tracker is "TCP packet out of state: First packet isn't SYN tcp_flags: PUSH-ACK"

Sounds like you want to increase the session timeout for sqlnet1.

I recommend NOT to opt for the longer timeouts. Just go to the SQL server and change the TCP Keep-Alive from the default 7200 seconds to 900 seconds.

In my experience that is a more reliable way to keep idle connections open.

I know that increasing the timeout does not work all the time. But every time someone changed the TCP Keel-Alive timers they got rid of all issues permanently.
