Question about Inline-layer

Hope you are all doing well.

I know that the limit for inline layers is 251. However, is there also a limit for the number of usable rules inside a single inline layer (rules under the parent rule), or is there no specific limit?

The Security Gateway supports a maximum of 251 user-defined layers (in total, it supports 256 - 5 are reserved). --> indeed still true for R82

Regarding the amount of rules, I cannot find a limitation listed. So I would assume it would be around 20.000 like the recommend maximum amount of normal rules. But that would not benefit the layer itself I think. I would recommend to keep it around couple hundred maximum, maybe less. Or then make a new layer.

In recent versions, we actually list the maximum number of various types of objects supported in the Release Notes.

It's less about the number of rules in a specific layer and more about the total number of rules for all assigned ordered/inline layers in the Policy Package.
