Is SG3600 suitable for upgrading to R82 ?

Hi Expert,

My customer SG3600 is running R81.10 and we are planning upgrade to R82.

Since R82 requires more DRAM than R81.10, I've been told that the minimum DRAM requirement for R82 is 16GB.

SG3600 only have 8GB of on board DRAM.  Is SG3600 suitable for upgrading to R82 ?

Thanks,

Todd

SK below states R82 and R82.10 is supported. The unit has no EOL date listed, so all good

https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/support-life-cycle-policy/

The appliance home page shows the same:

https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk110052

But, if you currently have an undersized appliance, it is a different story.

Third the minimal requirements for R81.10 and R82 have not changed for example an open server.

Minimum CPU and RAM Requirements for Open Server / Virtual Machine

One of our customers has a few 3600 running R82 for months and no issues were reported.

Takes a while to install, though.

Our company has several SG3600 with R82 running in production without any issues upgraded from R81.10.

So yes i would say SG3600 is suitable for upgrading to R82.

In the 3000 appliance documentation, SG3600 is mentioned to be running R82.

Just be aware of sk184022 - Check Point 3000 appliance is stuck in a boot loop after selecting "ElasticXL" in the Gai...

The 3000 series doesn't support ElasticXL, if you have ClusterXL, stay in that mode.
