ElasticXL R82.x Licensing Clarification – Single License or Per Appliance?

Hi CheckMates Community,

I have a question regarding the licensing model for ElasticXL in R82.x.

I'm planning to deploy an ElasticXL Security Group using two Check Point Quantum appliances.

My understanding is that the ElasticXL Security Group is treated as a single logical gateway (SMO), so I assumed the following:

  • A single gateway license (activation key) is associated with the ElasticXL Security Group.

  • After activating the license on the first appliance (or the Security Group), the second appliance automatically inherits the required licensing when it joins the Security Group.

  • Therefore, no additional activation key is required for the second appliance.

Is this understanding correct?

Or does each physical appliance in the ElasticXL Security Group require its own separate license and activation key?

If anyone has deployed ElasticXL in production, I'd appreciate clarification on how the licensing and activation process works in practice.

Thank you in advance!

  • Each Appliance needs its own gateway license.
  • The whole Security Group consumes only one management license for a gateway.

Each SGM appliance requires its own license. It will autofetch it from your UserCentre if it has internet access. Each appliance needs to be properly licensed for all your features.

Hi,

You can check this discussing on ElasticXL licensing

Every appliance needs a license, but it comes with the appliances you are buying.
