Setting up scheduled backup with FTP not working

Hi all,

I'm trying to configure a scheduled backup as explained here: https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/R82/WebAdminGuides/EN/CP_R82_Gaia_AdminGuide/Content/Topics-GAG...

However, I can't get it to work, as the username field doesn't seem to support '\'.

In order to FTP I need to define the domain as DOMAIN\USERNAME. But that doesn't work when doing it from the GAiA Portal.

It has removed the '\':

However, if I PuTTY into the management server and FTPs it works fine:

Try to do the same via clish, the \ is a special character. Also I recommend not to use FTP and change to SCP for security reasons.

add backup-scheduled name <BACKUP_NAME> ftp ip <FTP_SERVER_IP> path <UPLOAD_PATH> username "DOMAIN\USERNAME" password <PASSWORD>

Does <username> only not work?

Hi Lesley,

When I did it the last time, it didn't setting it up in clish either.

I will try again tomorrow.

And I will consider SCP, look into what the possibilities are.

And lastly, no using just my username doesn't work. Can't tell you why, probably an internal network thing, but not sure.

If you keep FTP, you can make a tcpdump and load it in wireshark, then for sure you can see what is wrong. With SCP this is not possible

The \ character is probably being treated an escape character.
Try using two backslashes and see if that works.

Unfortunately same result. It removes the backslashes so I end up with DOMAINUSERNAME and not DOMAIN\USERNAME whether I use one or two of them.
