HarmonyBackup folder on external USB sticks is taking up too much space

Hello everybody!

We have a problem involving Harmony Backup, it is creating a folder on all devices that are connected to the computer and this ends up taking up a lot of space.

Can anyone help me on how to limit this or even not create external device backups?

Thanks,

It's a policy decision, as described here: https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk147454

Thanks for the response,

There's a way to delete the existing folder on a USB? One of our employees had a pendrive that this folder already passed 3.8gb

Also, we can make a exception to exclude pendrives?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to disable the creation of backup folder on a USB specifically.
This is a function of the AntiRansomware functionality.
The only real workarounds are to:

  • Disable AntiRansomware before copying the files
  • Remove specific extensions from the "to-be-backed-up" portion of the AntiRansomware configuration

The backup folders cannot be deleted also by design (also part of the AntiRansomware functionality).
However, they should be deleted when AR is uninstalled.
