Checkpoint Endpoint Licence Expiry
Hi
Please can someone advise regarding what happens to the computers with CP Full Disk Encryption once the licence expires? Can SmartEndpoint Manager still provide passwords for the devices to be decrypted?
Thanks

What you will NOT be able to do is encrypt new computers if your license is expired or you do not have enough licenses to cover the existing computers.

Harmony – Expired License
When the license for Check Point’s Harmony Endpoint antivirus expires, several important functionalities are affected:
- Updates and Protections: Existing endpoints will no longer receive security updates. This means new threats will not be detected and blocked.
- New Endpoints: It will not be possible to protect new endpoints.
- Access to Functionalities: Some pages and functionalities in the administration panel may become inaccessible.
To ensure the continuous security of your devices, it is important to renew the license before it expires. Otherwise, you may become vulnerable to threats and cyberattacks.
- Vulnerability to New Threats: Without updates, the antivirus cannot detect and block new types of malware and viruses.
- Exploitation of Security Breaches: Updates often fix vulnerabilities that can be exploited by cybercriminals.
- Data Theft: Malware can capture sensitive information, such as passwords and banking data.
- Data Loss: Ransomware attacks can encrypt your files, demanding payment for recovery.
- System Performance: Malware can overload the system, reducing its performance.
- Spread of Infections: Worms and other types of malware can quickly spread to other devices on the network.
Conclusion
Maintaining the license for Check Point’s Harmony Endpoint antivirus is crucial for the security of the digital environment. When the license expires, the software stops receiving essential updates, exposing the system to new threats that emerge daily. Although the antivirus can still detect and prevent known attacks, the lack of updates makes it vulnerable to more recent and sophisticated malware. This can result in the theft of sensitive data, loss of important information due to ransomware attacks, and even the exploitation of security breaches that could have been fixed with updates. Additionally, system performance can be compromised, affecting productivity and efficiency in the work environment. Therefore, renewing the antivirus license is not just about keeping the software running, but ensuring continuous protection and the integrity of data and systems. In a world where cyber threats are constantly evolving, prevention is the best defense. Keeping your antivirus updated is a fundamental step to ensure a safe and protected digital environment.
