Check Point for MacOS Big Sur 10.11

Dear Support Team,

I've running MacOS Big Sur 10.11 beta version. Please advise whether you have available compatible beta version of MacOS Big Sur 10.11 for testing purposes?

Downgrading is very easy if you have a TimeMachine Backup. But MacOS Big Sur can not be suggested for production at the moment, as the update kills older MacBook Pro models...😎

WOW this sucks! With the current situation (half the world working from home) you would believe this would at least be ready once Big Sur is GA.

Horrible support 👎

Apple made a lot of changes in macOS 11 to how the filesystem works, how their disk encryption works, and how third-party software is allowed to interact with physical devices without disabling SIP. Ask anybody and they'll tell you I don't cut Check Point slack, but this is an abnormal release.

While I understand you're disappointed, we've been fairly transparent about the expected timelines for availability.

I get this hard and the official answer is it will take weeks to months after a release for the new OS to be supported.

However when clients upgrade and it makes it so they can't work because the VPN client doesn't work its a big deal.

I have already begun to get some of these calls from clients wondering what is wrong with their laptop that they recently upgraded.

The average end user does not know that checkpoint won't come out with this support.  they just know that there computer has just been updated (maybe even automatically) and now things don't work.

As VARs we try to inform the users to wait on upgrading, but this communication is not always followed.

Ok, having said all that.  If a client has endpoint installed, upgrades to Big Sur, and it fails, how do we get endpoint uninstalled at this point?

I would love to see checkpoint say that they support new OS's on launch day just like many of the other Mac developers.

Hi Ted

We understand the need and urgency and are working to make the EA available ASAP. hopefully earlier than the committed time stated on sk115192.

In the meantime, we already made available a Technical Preview Private Beta for this coming version supporting Big Sur. As a Technical Preview is has some limitations and it is intended for your evaluation and not for wide production deployment. Those who are interested can contact TAC to receive it -  https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/contact-support/

The EA build for Big Sur has been updated again, removing a couple of the limitations and adding quality/stability fixes.
