AWS CloudFormation Templates and in place upgrades

Hello All,

I have a question about what happens to the cloud formation template that was originally used in the deployment in AWS when you then do an in-place upgrade? Does it get updated or, if there was an issue in AWS, would the original version deploy if there was an issue with the AWS EC2 instance?
