Install R82 on Proxmox 9

Hello everyone,

I'm migrating my environment from ExSi 7 with R81.10 to Proxmox 9 where I'll install R82.

I have a few questions:

BIOS: SeaBIOS or OVMF (UEFI)?
Machine: Default (i440fx) or Q35?

I would assume that for better performance, OVMF (UEFI) and Q35 would be better.

Or am I wrong? What would be better?

Also, do NUMA and Affinity apply to the processor? And what about Balloon for the memory?

I look forward to your comments.

Thanks!

Mine are SeaBIOS and i440fx, I don't remember if I tried the other ones.

Ballooning I have on for memory (I believe this is the default).

NUMA is off and Affinity is just 'all cores' for my CPU. If your VM platform has NUMA then it might be an idea to enable it, I don't know if that's something that needs support inside the VM OS.

The QEMU agent is not present in R82 so that needs to be off, but it's included in R82.10.
