Migration of R81.20 SmartCenter and SmartEvent ESX VMs to NUTANIX

Hello,

I have a customer who currently has two R81.20 virtual machines, SmartCenter and SmartEvent, deployed on a VMware environment.

The customer is planning to migrate these two virtual machines to a Nutanix environment.

I am not very familiar with Nutanix, so I am currently investigating the topic.

After some research, I found the information below that should help me with this operation. I found SK158292, which indicates the image to download. I am planning to download one of the ".qcow2" images with "Deployment type = Management and Gateway (All-In-One)".

Overall, this is the procedure I am planning to follow, and I would appreciate your feedback.

• On the VMware infrastructure, collect:
• The specifications of the two SmartCenter and SmartEvent virtual machines (RAM, disk size, CPU, number of network interfaces)
• The Gaia configurations
• A "migrate export"
• From the following link:

• On the Nutanix infrastructure, without connectivity to the firewalls:
• Create each VM from the downloaded image.
• During the first boot, configure the main parameters (IP address, DNS, NTP).
• Run the First Time Wizard to configure the appropriate products (SmartCenter and Log Server/SmartEvent).
• Import the Gaia configurations.
• Perform the "migrate import".
• Execute the various tests, including SmartConsole access and database installation.
• Production cutover: connectivity to the firewalls
• Shut down the VMware virtual machines.
• Bring the Nutanix virtual machines into production.
• Install the security policies.

That looks reasonable and is similar to what I've done in the past when migrating from VMware to Promox.
