High School jock turned computer geek
Studied Computer Systems Technology in College - a hybrid curriculum of hardware and software
I've been working in IT full time since Sep 1, 1987.
My career is categorically divided into two halves:
1st half - design, implement, and support premise distribution systems, i.e. office cabling systems. I think I've worked on every cabling system in the history of IT, in every type of environment: offices, factories, warehouses, schools, etc.
2nd half - joined the "Firewall Team" one month after Y2K, and supported Check Point on Solaris on Sun Sparc boxes, as well as Cisco PIX. Since then I've worked on every platform I think Check Point has ever supported: Solaris, IPSO, SPLAT, GAiA....Sun Sparc, Nokia IP, Alcatel, Xylan, Crossbeam C & X series, and of course all of the Check Point appliances since 2012.
In 2012 I transitioned from customer/user to employee at Check Point and have been enjoying it ever since.
The talent at Check Point is second to none!
My two career components have now been merged: still on the security topic with Check Point + an engineering element and once again traveling out to meet customers, which I had forgotten how much I enjoyed.
