OSPF Link Types

As it comes to OSPF link types in general the following are possible:

  • broadcast
  • non-broadcast
  • point-to-multipoint
  • point-to-multipoint non-broadcast
  • point-to-point
  • loopback

Which OSPF link types are supported on GAiA? Out of the box it seems to be doing broadcast. I couldn't find a clear statement from Check Point about this.

Note that in sk110912 it says that OSPF point-to-point connections are available on 61000/41000 appliances, but I'm more interested in appliances like the 15000 series.

Did you already study Gaia Advanced Routing Administration Guide R80.20 p.88ff and sk95968: OSPF on Gaia ?

Yes. Couldn't find a statement about the supported OSPF link types. Did you find them?

No. This implementation of OSPF is based on RFC2178...

Niels,

I got the following answer from TAC

"After internal discussion & verification, we do not support P2P over ethernet in maintrain, We support that only in SP."

And

"In maintrain it is planned to be supported in R81."

Regards,
Martijn
