IPS update folder

Hi all!

I'm checking several of our firewalls, and I'm getting the feeling that the IPS udpate folder is sometimes getting too big

drwx------ 2 admin root 4096 Apr 5 19:48 0
drwx------ 2 admin root 4096 Mar 31 19:52 1
drwx------ 2 admin root 4096 Apr 5 19:48 2
lrwxrwxrwx 1 admin root 36 Apr 5 00:32 cur -> /opt/CPsuite-R80.40/fw1/ips/update/2
-rw-rw---- 1 admin root 226 Apr 6 14:18 ips_status.C
lrwxrwxrwx 1 admin root 36 Apr 5 19:48 latest -> /opt/CPsuite-R80.40/fw1/ips/update/0
d--xr----T 2 admin root 4096 Nov 26 04:01 mgmt

4.0K /opt/CPsuite-R80.40/fw1/ips/update/0
26M /opt/CPsuite-R80.40/fw1/ips/update/mgmt
179M /opt/CPsuite-R80.40/fw1/ips/update/1
179M /opt/CPsuite-R80.40/fw1/ips/update/2

I guess "1" folder is a backup copy of the current just in case.

Could there be a safe way to to delete any of these folders and make space?

thanks

Hi! I made a du -kh and for example I got these:

4.0K /opt/CPsuite-R80.40/fw1/ips/update/0
26M /opt/CPsuite-R80.40/fw1/ips/update/mgmt
179M /opt/CPsuite-R80.40/fw1/ips/update/1
179M /opt/CPsuite-R80.40/fw1/ips/update/2

These are typical values. In some of our hardware is not a problem, in some others that came from factory with a not so big / partition, it's becoming a problem and will require to expand it with lvm_manager, and so stopping services and all that. So I was trying to find a "quick, dirty" solution to solve emergencies

Personally, I always do this to be on safe side...back up those folders and then delete them, so in case anything goes wrong, you can copy the content back afterwards. Also do backup as well.

179 MB is very small - about 1388.6 MB is the size of each Jumbo package, so before deleting other files, in CPUSE first uninstall all installed Jumbo takes, install the latest one and delete all previous installation packages 😎

Please do not delete files and folders without being 100% sure and having a backup 😎 I would ask TAC to get an official answer!
