Difference between System Backup and Save Configuration

Hi community,

I read the following in the CCSA student guide:

System backup: This method allows you to back up the configuration of the Gaia
operating system and the Check Point configuration.

Save configuration: The Save Configuration backup method is used for saving Gaia operating system configuration
settings as a ready-to-run CLI script.

For me, they do the same thing. After this there is a chart with a few differences, one of them says that System Backup back up products configuration while Save Configuration doesn't.

According to me, the configuration of the Gaia OS refers to things like interface IP addresses, NTP, routing protocols, etc. What does product configuration refer to?

Thanks in advance,

Julián

I believe, sk108902 has all info you need.

Product configuration is a collection of product settings, config files, and registries.

Thanks. Do you mean product configuration could be things such as policies or objects?

Regards,

Julián

This is your best reference and yes, you are probably correct, they do pretty much the same thing : - )
