Central Deployment Tool Watch Progress

Hi all, I am new to using the Central Deployment Tool and I am trying to watch the progress of an upgrade/installation using this command: watch -d cat CDT_status.txt

However when I run this I get this output:

cat: CDT_status.txt: No such file or directory

And then nothing else happens.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong as the upgrade I tested completed successfully.  But I wasn't able to view the progress.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steven,

Are you using CDT on a regular MGMT or MDS? In case of MDS, CDT adds the domain name to the status file.

Example:

/opt/CPcdt/CDT_status_CMA_B_Server.txt

I suggest to run "ls /opt/CPcdt" and check if you see there the status file.

If it didn't solve the problem I will need a few more details,

1) What is the build of CDT you are using?("./CentralDeploymentTool -v")

2) Was the gateway upgraded as expected?

3) Did you see any errors in the screen logs?

make sure you use the full path to the file: /Path_to_CDT/CDT_status.txt

I have tried changing to this or using the cd command to move into the CDT directory.

But i get the same error that the file doesn't exist.

Did you start CDT using deployment plan and given value for candidate list before starting the watch command?

If you have not done anything yet with CDT the files don't exist I assume. Shortly after starting CDT it will be created.

And if installed using rpm or SMS of at least R80.30 you may go to the directory first using

cd $CDTDIR

verify that using

pwd

and now to something completely different - CCVS, CCAS, CCTE, CCCS, CCSM elite

I havn't used the Advanced method with deployment plan.

I used the Basic.

I ran through an update but the watch command stated the file didn't exist.
