Upgrade with migration to R81.20 and license

Hi,

I am planning an upgrade from R81.10 to R81.20 and we decided to build a new VM for that purpose.

Therefore we need to use the Upgrade with Migration procedure.

When reading the documentation , it is mentionned to add a license before importing the "old" database on the new Management server (in our case we will use the same IP address in a dedicated network not connected to production):

Make sure a valid license is installed:
cplic print

If it is not already installed, then install a valid license now.

But the license should be included in the backup no?

If there is no IP change you can use the same license you have on the current / old system. You can download it from usercenter and place it on the new system.

I dont believe its part of backup, but it is part of migrate server. But honestly, if I were you, I would just slap on eval license for the time being and then make sure correct license is moved over, easy peasy.

Yes, this is what I was thinking of.

The license should be included when exporting with migrate server?

Correct! So whats imported is license, even if IP does not exist on the OS level on the new machine, but hostname and IP stay the same.

Makes sense?
