Time required for resizing logs logical volume

Hello All,

We have logs volume of 100GB with 64% used in a VM in VMware environment. We want to increase the logs volume by adding new 400GB disk to the VM. Can someone guide the approximate time that would be required to resize the log volume from 100 to 500 GB in order to get an idea of the downtime.

Regards,

K

I done it 3 times with customers, in all cases they already had 2 TB hdd, took about 30 mins.

Unfortunately, no, because this is largely dependent on a number of factors (hardware, how the VM was initially installed, etc).
If this is not with R81.20, then I recommend installing this release from scratch and importing/upgrading the relevant configuration as desired.
This release updates the installer so that the drives are partitioned on cylinder boundaries, which should improve performance.

Glad we could help mate. By the way, I said 30 mins, as thats how long it really took (give or take) all 3 times, but it can vary, obviously. If you care about precise times (which Im sure you dont LOL), but here they are, as I document EVERYTHING ; - )

Andy

1st time - 34 mins

2nd time - 31 mins

3rd time - 33 mins

So, if you do basic math, 31+33+34 = 98 / 3 = 32.66
