Migrate_server export/import to a new MDS with different hostname&IP (R80.40 to R81.10)

Hello

In few days I have to migrate a MDS server active/standby to a new 6000-L  . It's planned to work with migrate_server tool but  destination servers will have different  ip addresses .

I've found this link https://community.checkpoint.com/t5/Management/migrate-server-query/m-p/146895  and recommendation to follow this Solution ID: sk73120 .  It applies when migration is to R81.X and  migrate_server will be used?

When it's planned to migrate to a new MDS with new hostname and IP , which is the recommended path?

thanks

Manel

Hi Chris

Thanks for your reply .  If I make the import process in lab , and after that I change IP address and hostname   . Could be a good option?

I'm trying to find the best option to avoid problems .

thanks

Any time you can test in the lab it's always a good thing 🙂

The sk that you referenced doesn't apply to multi-domain deployments you need to look at the process from the guide shared above it has provisions for the IP changes in the relevant area.
