Extend snapshot partition

Hi,

I am trying to figure out what to do with an R80.40 MDS (Take 196) that does not have enough space to create snapshot.

To be able to create a snapshot it needs 33GB but only 17GB is available for snapshots.

There are no other snapshots created.

This MDS runs in a vmware virtual machine.

I have plans to do release upgrade to R81.20 soon.

I calculated space according to sk80260 and yes 17GB is the result of that calculation, but i do not understand how i can extend space or make snapshot smaller.

One possibility i have thought of is to setup another VM with R81.20 with more space and then migrate, but inplace upgrade is of course easier.

MDS>show snapshots
Creation of an additional restore point will need 34.080G
Amount of space available for restore points is 17.19G

Snapshots don't actually go into a partition. They go into a storage pool (which is the partition) into available space not allocated to any other volume. To make more space for snapshots, you have to make the other volumes consume less space. The challenge is only an older filesystem called ext3 supports shrinking the volume. What does the command 'mount' return? It probably needs to be in expert mode.
