Trying to determine which image is considered the factory default after an upgrade

Here is the version that we are running on the SMO

Product version Check Point Gaia R81.10
OS build 338
OS kernel version 3.10.0-957.21.3cpx86_64
OS edition 64-bit

We have 2 of 3 gateways in Down state and have attempted to reboot one of the down SGMs and it is in a cycle of rebooting the max retries and fails each time with Reason of Config error. Our SMO has configuration items from the MHO02 that we had trouble connecting, but it seems it was connected long enough to obtain interfaces from the MHO02. We disconnected the Sync between the two and are in this situation now. One of the recommendations is to do a fcd revert which the show fcd command provide this info (I enter the show fcd then hit tab and it filled in the version): [Local SGM] dsc_Int-FW-ch01-01-ch01-01> show fcd Gaia_R81.10 all
date Wed May 31 06:14:54 2023
size 8.00G

The issue is that the 6700s were shipped with the non-Maestro version of R81.10 and we had to use USB drive to upgrade them to the Maestro version. Now with recommendation for the revert, we are not sure which version of R81.10 is the factory default. If it is the Maestro version, we might not have to be on-prem to complete the factory reset. Otherwise, we will have to travel to the site and use the USB to install the Maestro version again.

Big Question: Is there a way to determine what version would be used for the fcd revert command? Also, after an upgrade, does it retain the factory default that was installed when shipped?

Without knowing which one would be used, after the revert the gateway might not understand that it is part of a Maestro environment and would not be cloned from the SMO.

When you say you used a USB drive, exactly how did you do this? Did you use a tool called ISOmorphic?

ISOmorphic completely wipes the internal storage, sets up a storage pool (potentially including mirroring if you have multiple disks), writes a "factory default" volume in the pool, then restores the system to that "factory default" volume.

To expand on this, regardless of which method is used (ISOMorphic, USB ODD emulator, it's all the same) building an appliance from the ISO mounted via USB will create the factory default image that correlates to the ISO used.

Performing a version upgrade or clean install via CPUSE does not change the FCD image.

If your gateway is far away to use physical USB, you can also mount ISO over LOM interface.
