VPN1-Edge | SBXW-166LHGE-4 - compatible software

Hello guys,

I got my hands on a pretty old VPN1-Edge appliance (SBXW-166LHGE-4, to be precise). I know that such an appliance should absolutely avoided to be used in any environment these day, but as I started with R80 and received the device for free, I wanted to set it up in my local network. Just to get an idea of the old appliances and the look and feel of these 🙂 I wondered where I can find any information regarding possible compatible software? The device was released back in 2003 if I am correct. So the OS release that came together with the box had to be around R54...? But what is the latest release that can be installed on the appliance? And how can I receive related images? Some research and googling showed me that the user guide is still available. But I am unable to find anything further than that.

Regards,

Maik

I have an empty chassis of this model on my desk 😉 I first met it at the times of R65 and did a lot with it, so i can supply some materials like the attached Release Notes of the last available firmware version for the Edge (that was not an Edge N). But please remember that this box is only usable as a locally managed device, and installing a new firmware image only works using TFTP...

And the CLI reference... Concerning central Management: R77.30 still supports UTM-1 Edge, R80.x0 supports only UTM-1 Edge N.

Awesome - thanks for the documents! 🙂

Is there any chance to receive the latest available firmware directly from Check Point or did they shut down the downloads?
