Using loopback cable

Hello All, 

We have a scenario where we need to connect our mgmt interface to an l2 switch interface to keep the mgmt interface up.

Is it possible to use the rj45 loop-back connector to keep the interface up, rather than connecting it to an l2 switch.

Can we assign IP address to this interface. ?

Which appliance are you talking about, and why do you need to keep up an unused interface?

This plug is for use with the hwdiag tool only (sk97251)

Is there a reason that you can't set a different management interface or use/configure an actual loopback interface depending on the use case?
