The URL Filtering Categories site seems to have only 77 of the 121 categories (seen today in an updated R81.20 SmartConsole - 12th June 2024).
https://usercenter.checkpoint.com/ucapps/urlcat/categories
The site seems to require a log in to the UC today, where I previously found that it was public access.
This follows the new look / updated https://urlcat.checkpoint.com/urlcat/ (resolves to: https://usercenter.checkpoint.com/ucapps/urlcat/ )
In the site the first two noticeable categories that are missing are "Browser Plugin" and "Browser Toolbar"
Can or will the site be kept up to date? Otherwise it might be better to archive and hide it.
Thanks,
Don
You are 100% right, I noticed the same, definitely bunch is missing.
Andy
Are you looking for App category classifications?
https://appwiki.checkpoint.com/appwikisdb/public.htm
Nope. Just URL Categories 🙂
BTW, What is the official method to request a new Updatable Object? If that is a possibility?
I had customer ask me that same question before and Sales guy said either via TAC case or RFE.
Andy
You lost me at Sales guy..
I meant your local Sales person, or CP account manager.
Andy
I'm joking 😉
If you said SE though 😉
Rfe and SRs are for technical product requests.
I'm just trying to keep help them out and pointing out some areas they can update and improve.
All good.
Jokes are free 😉
SE, Sales guy, Sales lady, Sales engineer, take your pick 🙂
Anyway, the reason why I said that is because couple times, when SE opened the case, I suppose it has bigger meaning than say customer or partner opening the case mentioning SE's name...I dont know, just my impression.
Andy
Btw, I was just "digging" through my One Note notes and found where SE opened TAC case for this issue and requested updatable object customer wanted. It took almost 3 months to get it done, but this was 3 years ago, maybe it would be faster now days, worth a try.
Andy
I guess it depends on a few things, for example a customer may be looking for a new UO and the SE or Customer request could be serviced quickly because R&D were already working on it or because internal processes have been optimized.
Important part it to get the request and feedback in to Solution Centre and R&D for them to consider it.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
I see what you mean.
For such a thing to be considered, the vendor in question has to offer a programmatic way to fetch the IPs for the app/service in question.
In addition to the usual contact your local office and such 😉
To answer the original query, Browser Plugin and Browser Toolbar are not actually URL Filtering categories, but App Control categories.
These are mixed together in SmartConsole.
