Legacy DHCP

My R80.10 pre validation states I have legacy DHCP services. With sk104114 is it stating that I'm required to change the rulebase to remove the legacy services as indicated, and change the wx_dhcp_relay_nat to 0 or is it both?

Anyone else encounter this issue?

If you plan to use the new DHCP Services in R80.x, then make sure fwx_dhcp_relay_nat is NOT set in fwkern.conf.

Note that you can use the legacy DHCP services in R80.10, but you will need to double-check the configuration with the following SK: Configuration of IPv4 BOOTP/DHCP Relay using legacy services

Note the default value for fwx_dhcp_relay_nat is different in different revisions of code:

  • R76 and earlier: 0
  • R77.x: 1
  • R80.10 and above: 0

fwkern.conf modifications typically do not survive upgrades.

According to the Pre-Upgrade verification it points to rules where we are using the service bootp. These rules dont necessarily use dhcp relay, but they do provide access for phones to get an IP.

In the above situation can the bootp udp 67 be left as is, or does it also need to be changed?

I would assume so since BOOTP and DHCP are treated similarly.
