R80.10 Mgmt VM (VMware) upgrade to R80.20

Hello,
I recently update R80.10 Management VM in VMware 6.0 to R80.20.

I have some questions for you:

1. Should I change the Guest OS from RedHat Enterprise Linux 5 (64-bit) to RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 (64-bit) - because  new kernel 3.10 is based on RHEL 7.x ?

2. During boot (splash-screen), I get the error "mobprobe startup FAILED".
I already read this CheckMates post Virtual Appliance "mobprob startup failed" message on boot and the message can be "safely ignored", however is there a way to see messages during splash-screen ? I tried with "ESC" but nothing happens.
How can I
troubleshoot the message above and found the cause ? boot.log is empty; dmesg | grep -i fail command return:

Hi Luca

The upgrade process is the same as for an Open Server

There's no need to change anything for the kernel update.

I'll ask around for further troubleshooting infromation

Uri

Hello Uri,
thank you for your answer.

However from "VMware point" if virtual machine hosting R80.20 Management is based on kernel is 3.10 (belonging to RHEL 7.x), it shouldn't be wrong changing VMware guest OS from RedHat Enterprise Linux 5 (64-bit) to RedHat Enterprise 7 Linux 7 (64-bit), isn't it ?

I'm waiting for your feedback regarding the other point.

Thank you again.

Regards,
Luca
