I'd like to create a SmartConsole extension that colorizes the background of the source and destination fields within the rulebase according to the colors of the objects included in a rule. This is to help administrators following a coloring structure to help avoid human mistakes. Imagine a section with all sources in Green and destinations in Red. When someone puts a rule with a different color code in such section it would be easily detected and could be resolved quickly.
I wrote to extensions@checkpoint.com in mid december 2018 as it was suggested by Tomer and Dameon in this thread, but got reply.
Does someone know what it takes to create such an extension quickly? I'd need it in preparation for CPX360.
This should help (maybe)...
I am not sure if an extension can change behavior/color of rulebase.
I assume they only might work e.g. on the tabbed bottom window below rulebase or where objects/validations are present. But only guessing.
Hi Danny,
Sorry for not responding earlier to the mail.
Like Martin wrote, you could see our Developer Docs for more information.
Our new extension platform, planned to be officially announced in CPX 2019, embed web applications in strategic and extensible location inside SmartConsole.
Thanks a lot!
So it should be quite easy to create an extension to visualize the color code of the entire rulebase like this:
It is quite simple to customize rulebase visual (read-only). I could send you some examples we are working on where we are doing it (will be open-source once we finish).
Î would really appreciate getting some code samples. Thanks a lot!
I am also interested in code samples so please share them with all of us please . Thank you.
You could find a 'Hello World' example in the Developer Docs.
We are creating more examples that would be shared during CPX 2019.
For specific requirement, please send mail to extensions@checkpoint.com
Is there a repository of developed extensions that we can just import?
