Software Release Notes

Just few random (but good) links about why it is important to write software release notes:

The Importance of Writing Release Notes

How to make release notes count

The Benefit of Software Release Notes

With that said guys please update sk151574 accordingly. Thank you.

If you are referring to [sk153433 - Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R77.20.87] then I understand your point.

It looks like the GA for the JHF was replaced recently to Build 990173004, but we still don't have any information for what bugs are fixed.

It maybe nice to see granular explanation to what was fixed in what build, if we see many private fixes/customer builds for this one 🙂

The way I understand it, there are two classes of fixes listed in that SK: ones available in a private build, and ones available in the linked download.
I'm pretty sure we've had more than one JHF build there, nor do we list the actual build with each bug, so I can see why it's confusing.

All right, let me give some explanations:

- First sk151574 states:

Released Hotfixes

R77.20.87 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator Build 2960 is available in sk153433.

This is in fact no longer correct because the latest JHF build is 3004.

- And second, when you go to sk153433 the release notes are vague, incomplete and talk about some private builds?!??

To me personally, having so many SKs with download links is confusing and may lead customer to downloading outdated build.

Looks good to me. Only some very minor inconsistencies. For example:

In sk151574 there is a mix of 900 and 910 through the document. May be stick to either 900 or 910.

In sk153433 :

The list below describes each resolved issue and provides a Take number, in which the fix was included. A resolved issue is included in the Incremental Hotfix starting from the Take number listed in this table (inclusive). In addition, you can find the date when the take was published in the table below.

I think we do not have real "Takes" for SMB. There are no dates in the table as you mention. And there is a mix of Build and Hotfix terms. I think "build" is more like R&D term where Hotfix is what most customers are familiar with. Again, stick to either of those.

But I am personally happy with as it is. Thanx for taking the time to work on this.
