Important! R80 and R80.10
End Of Support around the corner (May 2021)
Hello CheckMates;
We are evaluating the SMB 1500 (R80.20) and I went to test the upgrading method using smart update and realized I cannot find the tgz file only the img file.
Is this method going away? or is it because the code is new that it takes a little while for it show up in tgz format ?
These devices would be rolled out in a SCADA environment without access to the internet so doing upgrades from the Manager would be preferable.
Thanks

@Patrick_Tuttle1 Thanks you for pointing it out. smartupdate package will be published soon on the latest version SK.
please make sure to use a supported management version.
Thank you both for your responses.
So, it sounds like we can count on SmartUpdate being able to upgrade these in the future ?

Yes, and to be more accurate until we can offer an alternative.
Check Point 1500 Appliance package R80.20.01 build 992000872 for R80 SmartUpdate
I think you are testing SmartProvisioning - according to sk163914: Cannot attach an LSM profile to a 1500 Branch Office Appliance (in SmartProvisioning) on M..., there are issues. But i found that just using SmartUpdate without LSM does work. When selected in the Packet Repository it will give the error "No suitable targets found" if Distribute or PreInstall Verifier are performed. But when the 1500 device itself is selected, "Distribute Package..." shows the added CP1500_6.0_4_0_-.tgz and installs it:
The Operation Details are very deep indeed, reflecting the console output:
Thanks for all the info. Looks like more work needs to be done on Check Point's part for the LSM functionality.
but I'll test this out.
Thanks very much

1500 devices support in LSM is not yet available.
It is expected as part of R80.40.
Hello Check Mates;
Haven't had time to lab up R80.40 yet but I don't see any support listed in the release notes for LSM for 1590's
Anyone been able to try this yet?
