R80.20 SmartConsole installation error - Error during SmartConsole installation

Hi all,

i'm tring to install the new build 81 of smart console for R80.20, after uninstalling the old one, but it fails here:

I tried several time, also after reboot.

If i try to install it from the SmartConsole.exe file in c:\...\AppData\Local\Temp\SmartConsoleWrapper folder, all goes fine and at the end i can open it and connect to the manager.

I think this could be tied to the .NET framework and i'm worried about, if this can cause problems under normal operation activity.

Any suggestions is wellcome

Also from the installation screens it seems like the SmartConsole is using an older installer. Can you state where you downloaded the SmartConsole build from?

Hi Tal,
I download the file from sk122485: the old installer style is because i tried to run the extracted file "SmartConsole.exe" inside the temporary folder c:\...\AppData\Local\Temp\SmartConsoleWrapper
created by the original installer before the error screen.

I assume you have the admin permissions on that PC, right?

Had you mentioned any remains in Program Files folder after installation? If yes, had you tried to clean those?

What is Windows and  .NET version you have?

yes about admin permissions.
For the remaing folders i just removed the R80.20 folder inside C:\Program Files (x86)\CheckPoint\SmartConsole path

Solved!

Taking a look to the logs inside C:\Program Files (x86)\CheckPoint\CPInst, generated during an old attemp, i saw an entry about "no file found in the SmartConsoleSetupFile folder".

Following your suggestions i did:

1. TAL sk with streams

2. Remove all the folders in C:\Program Files (x86) about CP:
Check Point
CheckPoint
SmartConsoleSetupFile

3. New installation attempt and this time all gone as expected.

Probably the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\SmartConsoleSetupFile" was there for a previuosly aborted installation and each new attemps to write a file inside it was failed.

After the above step, the correct setup file is there:
