migrating smart-1 5 to smart- 1 405

Hi All

Greetings

We have a current setup of 6 gateways (4800) & 2 management (smart-1 5). Smart-1 5 is out of support. Checkpoint suggested us 2 smart-1 405. All the configuration of 6 gateways installed in one smart- 1 5 & second smart-1 5 we are using just for event log. Is this possible to restore backup of 6 gateways in one smart-1 405 ???.  As per smart-1 405 datasheet it only 5 managed gateways supports.

Need your valuable suggestion. Please help.

Technically, there is no issue migrating your older management to Smart-1 405. However, your licensing concern is valid. It is best to address it with your local Check Point representative.

Hi VAL

Thanks for the reply.
As per Smart-1 405 datasheet, Device managed 5 gateway. Is this possible to migrate 6 gateways from existing setup to the new one??

I believe I have answered this question already, but please let me elaborate more.

Migration has two dimensions, technical and licensing one.

Technically, it is no problem to move your management server to a new platform. However, you are right, the out of the box MGMT licensing only allows managing up to 5 physical FWs. This concern is also applicable to your older management environment. Where, I believe, you have some extension in place.

Hence, I would advise you to raise this with your local Check Point representative. He/she will help you out.
