Upgrading Provider-1 MDM from R77.30 to R80.10

Hey guys,

we want to update our Multi-Domain Security Management R77.30. to 80.10.

Are there any general errors, problems, etc. to be considered with?

We want to upgrade with migrate export/import.

Best regards,
Maurice

You may want to search here - there are couple of posts regarding upgrade issues / notes. Generally nothing special, but keep in mind CPU/RAM requirements, R80 is very resource "hungry". Also backup size will increase and restore process will take considerably longer.

this is what I did. very High level. I have detailed notes if you are interested

migrate Export r77.30

On New VM -> setup a new IP for MDS ->Migrate Import

Changed IPs of CMAs  - different procedure for r80 vs r80.10

verify MDS/CMAs start

connect to new environment.

Move licensing to new MDM

decommission old MDM

I was able to do several conversion ahead of time to work out any issues with out interfering with production MDM.

I also did a TechTalk on the concept of upgrades in general (not specific to MDM) that may also apply: https://community.checkpoint.com/message/12403-techtalk-migrate-to-r8010-and-new-years-toast?sr=sear...

Re: Upgrading Provider-1 MDM from R77.30 to R80.10

you can refer sk85500 How to upgrade/migrate Multi-Domain Security Management Server from SecurePlatform OS to Gaia OS

we manage to migrate/upgrade the Multi-Domain R77.30 to R80.10

you need to fix all the error in pre-upgrade verification before you can perform the upgrade

Thanks
