Smart1-210 maximum memory RAM

Hi,

We have a Smart1-210, with the default memory RAM (8GB). It has 2 slots (4+4). Whats the maximum memory capacity for this appliance? wi need to increase memory to upgrade to R80.x

This appliance supports 16GB? 24GB?

16GB is supported, note as these units are End of Sale accessories may be in limited supply.

Regards,

Chris

FYI: if you are running SmartEvent on it now, even with the maxed-out memory (16GB), you will not be able to do that in R80++

Hi Jesus,

In addition, you can find the default hardware configuration (related to memory) and the DIMMs/slots needed in the "installing and removing memory" guide.

http://supportcontent.checkpoint.com/documentation_download?id=32413

Basically, replacing the 2x4GB with 2x8GB.

Also, note what Vladimir and Chris have said. 😉

Hi, you can upgrade the memory to 16GB (8GB+8GB). But the RAM (SKU: CPAC-RAM16GB-SM205/210) is limited to what they currently have, no further production- so be quick.

I just received the 16GB memory (2x8) from checkpoint. Its necessary to install a license to use this upgrade memory?

In the SO, we recevie this:

So is it necessary any action?

You should't do anything with the licenses, to the best of my knowledge.

Additional RAM will simply be associated with the correct appliance in your UC and will automatically be included in the cost calculations for the renewal of support.

Can user upgrade the RAM with generic brand (same spec) from the market? Is there any licensing fee or anything that must be paid from doing so? Any feedback is appreciated.

Technically, the use of the components not purchased from Check Point violates the warranty.

Wether TAC will decide to enforce it, should something go wrong and you request their assistance and they see the discrepancy with the configuration and components listed in your account is unknown.

Hi Jesus_Cano,

Just want to ask if you manage to install this on your Smart-1 210? We are going the same route for our Smart-1 210 as well.

Is there  any significant performance improvement? Right now our 210 box is dying running Management + Log + SmartEvent after upgrading from R7.30 to  R80.10 . We can't even push policies anymore even after trying TAC workaround of disabling Smart Event.

Our vendor recommended us to max out the RAM to 16GB but not sure if it will be enough to run Management + Log + SmartEvent to an acceptable level.

Thanks!
