Reducing memory

We are running R80.10 MDS with 5 domains on an open server (VM with 128 GB memory). Since the ESX host is running low on resources, we have the request to lower the memory provisioned from 128 GB to 64 GB.

Is this feasible and if so, are there any limitations or restrictions within GAIA?

This question is very hard to answer as the memory need depends upon traffic and used blades as well as their configuration. Best way to proceed is to first analyze the current memory consumption...

Thanks. Traffic is log and management, average memory consumption is 32 GB. But that was not the question. The question is, can this be done? Or can we run into all kinds of conflicts, like swap file size and/or other settings

I think it should work with no issues as long as you shut down VM, reduce and then boot

The answer is that this could be tried at least - as it is Management and traffic will not double in the next years (hopefully ;-), it makes sense to have 64GB with an average memory consumption of 32 GB. As an example, the Smart-1 5050 managing max. 50 Domains and 50 GWs comes with 64GBs for 5 Domains.

Additionally, it is important if the same unit is used for Log Server and SmartEvent...
