Physical Logging Server Storage issue

I haven't been able to throw enough resources at our VM Report/Logging server to make it run well enough for practical use, so the server team was nice enough to let me use a monstrous physical box that is no longer in use. The issue is the Fibre channel cards are not recognized during the install. I'm stuck with the local storage only. The fibre channel card is made by QLogic.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can take a look at Gaia hardware compability list https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/hcl/

Qlogic doesn't seem to be on the vendor list.

As stated it runs like a pig on VMWare. Regular crashes , freezes, reports take forever to complete. Hence why we want to try physical. We cant miss logs. Reporting is one of the major reasons we went with Checkpoint.

Maybe I misunderstood your initial explanations. I thought that you just didn't have enough resources for previous VM, so it was slow. And now you have more powerful hardware dedicated for Check Point log server.

Do you know what is the reason for slowness? HDD, CPU, RAM?

As far as I know, Check Point supports only very few vendors of network interfaces, and Intel is the best way to go.

They promise to support more hardware with the new Linux kernel version in R80.20. Maybe you could also contact Check Point team for EA and check if it could help: https://community.checkpoint.com/message/20221-r8020-ea-for-gateway-with-linux-310-kernel-coming-soo...
