Central management - pushing policy to SMB device from SMS

Hi,

Quick question, does remote SMB device has to be connected by VPN tunel with Edge Firewal with SMS behind its in order to obtain policy or it can be done without creating VPN tunnel ?

Even when a VPN is configured, management traffic to/from gateways (SMB or otherwise) is not routed over the VPN.
It is encrypted, though.
