Questions about HA

I have a pair of firewall deployed on Azure and I've setup the HA for the 2 firewalls. However, I have few questions:

Under "Network Management", for both eth0 and eth1, the status of the virtual IP is showing as "sync". While I understand the one for eth0, I don’t understand the internal (eth1) IP. It says ‘sync’ so I assume that HA just ‘works’. But how and why?

Any explanation on this will be highly appreciated.
