Is there a way create a web page (or program) that uses the API without hard coding the username and password?

We are looking at creating a Self-Help Internal web portal for our help desk.

Use Cases:

Is this website blocked?

Is this Port blocked?

We are planning on creating a Read-Only user for the API.

Thanks in advance.

Using a read-only user for the API is a good call.

You only use the credentials once to create a session and reference the session ID in future API calls.

I assume it's just an issue of compartmentalizing the authentication from the rest of your code that works with the API.
