Migration from 1400 to 1500

Hello CheckMates,

I would need your support in the following:

We are planning to do a migration to a customer that has SMB 1400 running on R77.20.86 and R77.20.75 to a new appliance 1500 running R81.0

There is the SK170162 that explains in how to do it. You have to update to R77.20.87 and then export the backup and import to the new one.

As we want to skip this step to avoid another MW, is it possible to configure the 1500 from scratch my copying the configuration from the old appliances to the new one or we really need to do how it is in the SK?

If you want to be 100% certain you get all the configuration, do the upgrade as specified in the SK.
You can always try upgrading from an older backup (ie without upgrading to R77.20.87), but it’s not tested and won’t be supported if something goes wrong in that process.

Yes, it is even possible to use the 1400 to look up all configuration details and put it into the 1500 ! Makes much sense if the configuration is simple and can be made simpler still...
