There is no real "access point" mode on the 620.
That said, you can bridge the LAN and WLAN on the 620 itself, disable DHCP, and configure it to use the same LAN/DMZ network as on the 1530.
Connect the cable between the two.
The 1530 will see the traffic from the 620 the same way it sees traffic from anything else on the LAN.
If you want to filter MACs or station to station traffic, that would need to be done on the 620.

Hi,

Questions for the community. We have a 620W appliance and want to upgrade to an 1530Wireless. Question is, we geta great promo on the 1530 without wireless, so the cost of wireless 1530W embedded versus 1530 is questionable. In that case we would like to go for the 1530 and use the 620W as an access point on the 1530. (less WIFI speed & difference old and new R77 en R80 possibilities are than known).

Question is, what are we missing out on wireless on the 620 by changing it to an access point and second question what does the 1530 appliance monitor from an external WLAN (and what does it monitor less than on it's own embedded wireless)?

Serious disadvantages?

Questions we ourselves already have:

1.Does MAC filtering, Station-to-Station Traffic remains on 620W when changed to an accesspoint?

2. Does bridging stays on at least one of the 2 devices?

3. Other issues?

Tx.

If you do not need more speed or 5 GHz, stay with the 620W.

Hi,

Tx for you insight. Do you mean no 1530 at all? The 620W is at his end of lifecycle june 2022 and has some difficulties with updates and accessibility (loss of connection on admin panel due to his limits I guess), and we suppose end of lifecycle means no NGTP license anymore. Can you extend NGTP license after end of license?
