topic Quantum Spark Factory Reset in Spark Firewall (SMB)

Hi,
We have a number of CheckPoint Quantum Spark 1530 gateways as well as a 1800 unit.
If we experience a power outage, the unit resets to factory default settings / First Time Configuration Wizard.

All are installed at branch offices in remote locations around 2-5 hours drive from head office.
All units are centrally managed via a Smart1 management server and are running the latest recommended firmware R81.10.17 build 4968.

We have been advised by tech support that this is a 'security feature'
Per the Quantum Spark R82.00.X administration guide (https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Appliances/Quantum_Spark_R82.00.X/AdminGuides_Locally_Managed/EN/Content/Topics/Overview.htm😞
Note - If a boot failure occurs due to a security policy load failure or an unexpected process termination, the device enters Maintenance Mode and automatically reboots after a timeout. If the same failure persists across multiple consecutive boot attempts (more than 5), the device automatically performs a reset to factory default settings.

*Note: We are running R81.10.17 and are centrally managed. there is no mention of this in that guide that I've found.
(https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/SMB_R81.10.X/AdminGuides_Centrally_Managed/EN/Content/Topics/Backup-Restore-Upgrade-and-Other-System-Operatons.htm?tocpath=Managing%20the%20Device%7CBackup%252C%20Restore%252C%20Upgrade%252C%20and%20Other%20System%20Operations%7C_____0#Backup,_Restore,_Upgrade,_and_Other_System_Operations)

The latest unit to fail was an 1800 recently upgraded to build 4968 and rebooted as part of that process.
The site experienced an unexpected power outage that depleted the UPS unit and the gateway was powered down. Upon power up, it was at First Time Configuration Wizard.

I am being told by tech support that this is expected behavior however I don't see how anyone could rely on these devices in remote sites or at any capacity. Reconfiguration requires a tech onsite to setup the WebUI and access to the management server to setup SIC.

Has anyone else had issues with this?
Were you able to resolve it?
Any suggestions for other vendors?

Thanks
