Note that there seems to be some typos in the current datasheet which I have already reported to RnD for correction.
For example, I confirmed with relevant teams that the new 2590 is capable of more than [2,000,000] concurrent connections and not the same as 2560/2570/2580 because it has more RAM.

We also noticed the dimensions for 2550/2570 is different from the actual appliance.

Personally, I miss the SSD which we had in 1900/2000 😞

Hey Tom,

I had a Canadian government client ask me about SSD for SMB appliances, but since I dont work those often, told them would check on it, Any new models come with those at all? They aslo asked me if there is any additional storage they could purchase for those appliances, since it will just be single locally managed one, but no idea if those SD cards would even be supported if they were to purchase one online?

Hi Andy,

AFAIK, the new 2500s (2530～2590) doesn't have additional SSD storage where we had in the old 1800/1900/2000s, only eMMC. In order to store logs on the appliance to survive reboot, using microSD is the choice.

Btw, recently, a new SK was created which explains the SD card support on the new 2500s.

Originally only 16GB worth of logs could be saved on the SD card but recently the limitation lifted where 80% of the capacity is supported for log saving. (supports up to SDXC 256GB)

If you are going to use a SD card for log retention, I personally recommend using a reliable one as possible, but there maybe a risk of log corruption just like other devices that use SD card for recording which sometimes can affect system performance. I hope this works better in the 2500s 🙂

If there is a strict log retention requirement for your customer, I recommend exporting the logs to external syslog rather than SD card or use them centrally managed with SMC.

It would be important to know the hardware specifications for these devices, and that future datasheets include details such as RAM, CPU speed and cores, and storage capacity.
