topic SmartCenter support for 2500 series? in Spark Firewall (SMB)

Hello Checkmates (and CP product mgmt) -

The newly released 2500-series ARM-based embedded GAIA devices are great.

However, it's a "significant" sales problem trying to get these in customer hands with current limitation and lack of support for central SmartCenter (or Smart1-cloud) management.

Central management in Enterprise is the core bread and butter of Checkpoint and historically a differentiator vs competition.

Now we have various new 2500-series devices that can only be managed by SMP (Sofaware Mgmt Portal -- for those who remember Sofaware -- aka SPARK Mgmt Portal).

The current statement on datasheet states "Smart-1 Cloud & Managementserver are currently not supported".

There is implied notion that central SmartCenter mgmt support could be coming in future release.

Can anyone provide any details and time- line?

We are in middle of quoting solutions to customers who already use SmartCenter. We were hoping to avoid the 1500-series to insure solution longevity for customer.

Note: local CP field engineering is the one to made me aware of this baffling limitation. He had no further information and treating the limitation as black/white.

Thanks -GA

Hello @Bob_Zimmerman -- thanks for your post. This is good information.

I was wondering why both release notes for both R81.20 and R82 does NOT show support for 2500-series.

I did not expect in the online R81.20 notes, but I did expect to see 2500-series listed in R82 release notes.

I see the reference you mention HERE in R82 JUMBO (take #36).

However, the same is not true for R81.20 JUMBO -- no 2500 support added (.....yet).

-GA

I wanted to confirm you are suggesting the 2500-series will NOT be support by SmartCenter going forward running R81.20 (on-premise or cloud-hosted).

The current EA (referenced above) to support 2500-series with SmartCenter is specifically running R82 (with Jumbo).

Thanks -GA
