All Security Gateways is what immediately comes to mind.
Don't know if that's actually what it stands for, but that's what a lot of the asg commands do: correlate information across all the hardware blades.

I think I read that in a 61K or 41K document:

Advanced Secure (or Security) Gateway = asg

But I'm not 100% sure myself:-)

This was created in the old Crossbeam days (Predecessor of this systems 41K,61K,44K,64K ).

Would you believe this was the developmental name of the chassis at one time, "Armageddon Security Gateway". This came from a lead engineer at Check Point but I am still unable to find a reference. Anyway, the acronym stuck and we need not obsess on it too much. It would be nice if CP put some relatable meaning to the acronym but it won't stop the show. Looking forward to getting my shell on this this product and see what we can do. Thanks all.

It is definitely for Armageddon Security Gateway. Armageddon was the code name for the solution during development.
