Can we upgrade Gateway cluster to R82 while our MDS is still on R81.20 ?

At this stage there is no support for managing R82 gateways with R81.20 management servers.

While we do have “forward compatibility” for management of newer gateways in some cases, this is not one of them.
Even when this is done, you don’t usually get the benefit of the new features in that release.
Its also not something we have offered across major versions.

Sadly, that wont work, as both @PhoneBoy and @emmap suggested.

I would make sure both are on same version.
